Summer 2011 - Week 6

A Message from Valerie

Hi Everyone!

The End of Season is almost here! Hard to believe that we've already gone through 6 weeks of Dogtown. As always, here are a few announcements:

1) Our End of Season Party is scheduled for Saturday, October 1st. Exact time is TBD, although the party will be at Yankee Doodles on the Promenade. All registered Dogtown players get free drink tickets and food for the night. Fun activities include pool, darts, and a number of other awesome time games.

2) As you may know, our charity this season is Children are our Future. You can read more about this great organization in our Newsletter and on our Facebook Group page. We're hosting three great fundraisers for this event.

  • Flip Cup tournament at Brennan's after Week 8 of games (September 21)! $5 per person, best out of 3 for early rounds and best out of 5 in the finals. Still working on prizes for the winning team... as soon as we figure out the prizes we'll let you know.
  • Charity Photo Shoot! One of our league members, J Pinder, is a professional photographer and has volunteered his services to shoot photos for a sexy 12-month Dogtown Calendar. Ideally, we'd love for each team to represent a month. However in order for this to happen we need all of you to volunteer! If you'd like to model for this calendar and represent your team, email J at jbpinder@gmail.com. Check out his portfolio here. Calendars will be sold online and at EOS. All proceeds will go towards our charity.
  • Charity Date Night Auction. We are also hosting a Charity Date Night Auction at our EOS! To volunteer to be auctioned off, please email Julie at julieleupold@gmail.com

Special thanks and shout out to Julie Fei for being a wonderful Charity Chair!

3) Believe it or not, after a full week of voting the teams Toot It and Boot It and Find the Hole TIED in the Theme Week costume competition! Both teams got 28 votes (aka: "likes") and earned themselves a shared bar tab of $100.

That is all. We play at Oakwood this week! See you all on the fields ~

Looking to Score

Looking to Score put up another solid effort only to be heavily outdone in the scoring department by the Box!  We were short of victory once again, but we definitely had the most fun on the field!!!  Our fun-loving attitude and inability to score got the Box to warm up a little and be friendly during the game J  The girls from the Box rocked it and even broke a special cheer/dance for us!  So it was definitely worth taking the night off and letting the Box win just for the sheer enjoyment of watching their girls do the little dance, make a little love, pretty much get down tonight J

Whiskey Kick

Whiskey Kick – Something  Westside on Hiatus- more than what Whiskey had
Whiskey Kick nation is still reeling as our all-star team captains were Whiskey Kick-napped a week ago. It’s pretty hard to focus on a game when your captains are missing. Stolen from their home in the dead of night and whisked away to destinations unknown against their will. When we found out about Kel and Mal’s abduction we went into full on rescue mode. Initially we suspected Westside on Hiatus, but upon investigation we’ve had to dismiss them as suspects. They just don’t have the brains to pull it off. Two Girls One base, our opponent this week,  also seemed an unlikely suspect. They’ve never needed to resort to terrorist tactics before.
After a week of investigating we were no closer to finding them. Crosby, the wonder dog, is still searching all over South America, but has turned up nada so far. Melanie “CAPS LOCK” Murphy keeps insisting it’s the Robots of Los DPs who’ve taken them. I know some people are on board with that theory but to me it didn’t make sense. Then last week someone we’ll call JP called me aside and said:
“Look in Europe, specifically Italy.”
I honestly thought he/she was talking about the current global economic situation. Then we received the following pics at Whiskey Kick Headquarters:

Hot Box

Hot Box had a great game. Both guys and girls had strong contributions. Tony Runestad debuted on the mound and pitched two scoreless innings. Katie Byrne scored a record high of two runs. Great job all around.
