Team Recaps

Chest Nuts
The matchup was Whiskey Kicks vs Chest Nuts, but it looked more like
Dodgers vs Giants, with Kershaw and Lincecum on the mound. In other
words, offense was at a premium, and stellar pitching and defense on
both sides carried the day. In the end, Whiskey Kicks' 2 runs in the
first inning were enough for them to pull out the narrow 2-1 victory.

GAME 5 HIGHLIGHTS:

--The Return of the King.
Vik made his long-anticipated return from his honeymoon. And mashed and bashed.

--
Kelly doin' work at 3rd while big daddy Jason windmilled folks around 3rd... dynamic duo, they be.

--
Aaron is a muggin' beast on the mound, guys. Fact: In 4 games on the bump, he's allowed 6 runs, majority of them unearned. On top of that, he was 2-for-2 last night with a couple of ribbies. His epic run has vaulted himself into the WAKA MVP chatter.

--Also making an MVP case is
Omeed. He's batting 1.000. I can't wait to sign up/shell out top dollar for the rumored kicking clinic he's putting together.

--
Jonathan braving the frigid tundra to come be our one fan present last night. Props, roomie.

--
Scott and Thomas laying down the law in JK's 1st of 4 turns umpiring. The 3rd member of their umpiring team receives zero gold stars for his effort. If there were minus stars, he'd be awarded those.

The Phelpstars had an amazing game last week aginast the "One Kick Wonders". The Phelpstars took an early lead as our joint team captain Craig kicked and RKI (runs kicked in) to bring Nat in during the first inning. With a run scored in the second by One Kick Wonders, it was a tie game at 1. It came to the bottom of the final inning still tied at 1-1. The One Kick Wonders had the bases loaded with one out and our faithful pithcer Nick Kuebler too the mound. It was a pop fly to center field for an easy out, but the runner on third was able to make it home. Leaving a final score of 2-1.
Finally this 1st season learning curve, is bringing us closer to our winning goal.
“TEAM”
"Team" thinks that while we spend most of our days on brawn we thought we would tickle all of your brains. Here are 2 fun word play riddles. Without Googling the answer, can anyone guess the answers?

-What is the difference between a pickpocket and a peeping Tom?

-What's the difference between a group of genius midgets and an all girls track team?

(Answers to follow next week)

Cheers,
"Team"

We Won!!!! ...and our ladies like to
drink Busby's Wine. Classy right? TRAMP STAMPS!

Whiskey Kick Loves Winning!
Wednesday as Whiskey Kick prepared for their match-up against Chestnuts we cursed Val, because she clearly hadn’t paid the heating bill in a while. So we jumped in place and rubbed hands together over a hobo fire, and plotted our strategy.

Think you don’t need a strategy against Chestnuts? Well then you’ll lose to them obviously. They got two of the best pitchers in Dogtown this season and they’re not afraid to use them. So we hunkered down and got to work. It’s not easy scoring against those guys so you take what you can get. Turns out all we could get was two runs to their one. We’re not mathnauts, but at the end of the game that seemed like 2 was enough to beat 1. So we were satisfied with that.

We would not be satisfied with losing at flip cup though. So we sent our Panzer in to play. People have different memories of how the first heat went down, but I think we can all agree that the 700 competitors gathered around the table for the game were no match for Alex. After about 5 to 6 solid hours of flip cup only one man remained, and he was our Whiskey Kick Champion. For his troubles he got a calendar and a hangover, but as he told ESPN Anchor Stuart Scott later- “If he dies, he dies.”
