Balls So Hard

Who knew scoring a run (or several) meant having a chance to win!  We're a new team on the block and this truth had escaped us for three weeks as we continued to post zeroes.  I'm not sure what was the more celebrated feat...scoring our first run or actually being able to get through the ENTIRE theme song Jay-Z and Kanye wrote for us while our team was up to kick.  Solid pitching by 'Poppin bottles of Cris' Velasco helped us keep the opponent far enough below 10 to have a chance and some stellar defensive plays by 'All I do is (Sel) wyn, wyn, wyn' propelled us to our first victory.  Great overall team effort paid off this week as we Balled Super Hard...we are definitely in our zone, we are definitely in our zone, we are definitely in our zone (at least for this week!).  

Chest Nuts

Last week we had a gripping 5th inning 2 run homer with 2 outs that led Chest-Nuts to 4-3 victory over Pipe City.

Greenorreah

You know that beer, "Simpler Times Lager" that you buy at the Trader Joes? I don't know if we got a skunky batch or what but it tasted like roasted ass, pureed and placed into an aluminum can. But it's still 6% alcohol, and (like robots) booze is what fuels this squad. Long story short, we won 5-1. Also, Field 3 is insanely hard to see anything on and WAKA should look into a discount on night vision goggles. 

--The Return of the King. And his queen. The real royal couple, Will.i.am & Caitlin, coming back from their honeymoon to solve peace in the middle east (aka shut down the right side of the infield).

--Captain Scottie 2 Hottie coming up HUGE by compiling everyone's walkout songs into a Google spreadsheet, then onto an iTunes playlist. The kid is a technological wizard, folks!

--BFFs Ashley and Michelle knocking back-to-back singles. Girl power. 

--Elizabeth's sweet catch in right. Or her socks. Not sure which was more outrageously cool. 

--Aaron dealing 5 shutout innings to lower his ERA to 0.88. Or his walkout song, Kenny Chesney's classic "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy". The latter is definitely more outrageously cool. 

--Dr. Seuss story time...

Kickelodeon

For those of you that don't know, when the season began Kickelodeon held a team meeting to try to figure out what would be the most difficult thing to accomplish. It was unanimously decided that it would be near impossible to win all of our games by exactly one run. Thus it would not only have been dishonorable to have accepted the 5-0 automatic win we could have accepted, but it would have been a detriment to our very dreams! And so we allowed Freebase to score a couple runs in the final inning to keep with our goals, and another 1 run victory was notched. MVP of the game: Black Widow Pants.

Ron

Ron was short of Ronald for the fourth straight week, but that didn’t stop the F-U-N

After co-captain Lindsay got over her sissy anxiety from refing the previous game and co-captain Roland decided to take on some captain-like responsibilities for once, Ron gave a stellar performance last week. Body-builder and nonsterioid-user Jeremy Oliver stepped up to the plate and kicked off the bottom of the first with a home run. That kick remained the best play for nearly the entire game until we went through the entire line-up and he and other star player Matt Anderson snagged Ron two more runs.

Despite some hiccups on defense, Ron had some notable plays: Chris Hwang pulled her chilly hands out of her North Face just long enough to catch a kick to right field, Chris Allen pitched a sneaky curve ball and turned around to catch the resulting line drive and “Steve” (also known as Geoff) made some great outs at first base against runners twice – even thrice – his size. MVP of the game was awarded to Kiki Papangellin for sacrificing her body to get to first base. Although her knee injury may keep her on the bench for a week, the true commitment to Ron makes her a winner.

Although a victory was not on Ron’s side (again), we put up a valiant effort and had a blast doing it.
